Corsair Gaming K70 (Vengeance K70)

Corsair is one of the leading manufacturers of mechanical gaming keyboards. Gaming K70 (previously Vengeance K70) is the standard series, Gaming K95 (previously Vengeance K95) is the series with massive macro support (specifically for MMO- and MOBA-players).

Update June 2018: The successor of the Gaming K70 is now available: Corsair K70 RGB MK.2.

K70 vs K70 RGB

The Corsair Gaming K70 is the available in two variations: the ordinary Gaming K70 and the Gaming K70 RGB. As the naming already suggests, the Corsair Gaming K70 RGB is offering multicolor per-key backlighting and the Corsair Gaming K70 is offering only red backlighting. The brightness though can be individually adjusted for all keys in both models.

The multicolor backlighting leads to a higher power consumption and therefore the USB-Passthrough of the K70 had to be cut in the K70 RGB model.

Both models do not have any dedicated macro keys, but there are still some differences regarding the macro support. All the keys of the K70 RGB are programmable (via Corsair Utility Engine), therefore a macro can assigned to an arbitrary key on the keyboard. The ordinary K70 on the other hand does not support macros at all.

Cherry MX Switches

All Corsair Gaming K70 models are using original Cherry MX Switches. The K70 RGB is available with red and blue switches, the K70 is available with red, blue and brown switches.
So overall there are 5 different variations of the Corsair Gaming K70. Some merchants and shops list every one of them as a separate product, don’t let this confuse you.

More Features

The keyboard has a 104-Key-Rollover. This means, that you could press every single key on the keyboard at once and not a single input should be lost. To provide comfort in every situation, the keyboard has a removable palm wrist and dedicated media controls.

Silver Award

"Taken in isolation, the Corsair Vengeance K70 is well engineered keyboard with innovative features and tempting brushed-aluminium finish ... Where the K70 falls is in the lack of macro keys and complementary profiles, which restricts gaming functionality compared to less expensive mechanical competitors."
