The products from Razer are usually strongly optimized for gaming. The Razer Pro Type though is a rare exception of this rule, it is a mechanical keyboard that was created for the use in office. As a consequence, it has a minimalistic but elegant design and is equipped with white backlighting. The keyboard is available since August 2020, it is however mainly sold in North America. The Pro Type is only available with US layout, other layouts options are not available, which is a bit disappointing for the rest of the world.
Illuminated Wireless Keyboard for Work
The Razer Pro Type is a mechanical, wireless keyboard with white backlighting. It is connected either via 2.4 GHz Wireless, via Bluetooth or via detachable USB-C cable. The keyboard features Razer Orange switches, those provide tactile feedback, but are rather silent. They are therefore a great fit to use in office. It’s great to see, that more and more manufacturers offer wireless mechanical keyboards nowadays. The battery life of the Razer Pro Type can’t keep up with its competitors though, the wireless Logitech G915 last much longer with a single charge.
Is the Razer Pro Type suited for Gaming?
You can of course also use the Pro type for gaming, anything else would be a big shock for a product from Razer. The keyboard features 10-key-rollover, which means that up to 10 keys can be pressed at once. This will be sufficient for 99.99 percent of all gamers. The wireless connection via 2.4 GHz is pretty fast, but you always can connect the keyboard via cable, if you have any doubts about its peformance. The orange switches are, just like Cherry’s MX Brown, a popular choice for keyboards used for both work and gaming. Moreover, Razer Synapse allows you to reprogram any keys of your choosing or to record and assign macros. Overall, Razer’s Pro Type is a keyboard designed for work, but it also offers many features that gamers value.

"Razer's new Pro Type keyboard brings 2.4GHz or Bluetooth wireless to your PC with a gorgeous white design. But it's those LED backlit keys that have us swooning. Too bad about no wrist rest."
