Corsair is a popular manufacturer of mechanical keyboards and offers a wide range of models. Most of them though come with a rather steep price tag, for example the Corsair K70 Max was priced at 230 USD at market launch. With their new Corsair K70 Core, the manufacturer now introduces a much cheaper alternative.
Low-Price Corsair Keyboard
The Corsair K70 Core offers a good set of features at a reasonable price. For about 100 bucks you will get a mechanical keyboard with RGB lighting, full NKRO, 1000 Hz polling rate, a multimedia dial, and a magnetic wrist rest. With Corsair’s well-known iCUE software, you can change key assignments and adjust the keyboard’s lighting. Up to five different configurations can be stored via onboard storage, so that you can take the configuration with you wherever you go.
The keyboard features the first appearance of Corsair’s own linear mechanical switches. The so-called Corsair MLX Red switches feature an actuation distance of 1.9 mm and require an actuation force of 45g. With these specs the switches closely mimic the characteristics of the Cherry MX Red switches.

"The Corsair K70 Core could have been the quiet and comfortable mechanical keyboard to beat had its integrated cable at least been offset with a USB hub. It’s still a great value with enough carefully considered design choices to stand out, but if you’re after a clicky keyboard to integrate into an existing Corsair iCue setup, this isn’t the one."

"The K70 Core isn’t just a huge improvement over Corsair’s more basic keyboard designs. Thanks to lubed switches and internal foam, it has the best typing experience of any Corsair keyboard, at a competitive price."

"The K70 Core RGB sounds great, has super-smooth switches, and costs (just) under $100."

"Corsair's K70 Core RGB has the basics that modern gamers demand from a mechanical keyboard, but some competitors deliver more features in this price range."

"The K70 Core is an entry level keyboard done right. The quality is present in the places it matters the most. The switches, stabilisers and keycaps all combine to deliver a typing experience that rivals keyboards that are twice the price. ... Compromises have been made in regards to build quality to keep the price down but production costs have been cut in the areas where it will be least noticed."

"Corsair continues to expand its renowned K70 keyboard series with the introduction of a new keyboard. After the K70 RGB Pro and the K70 Pro Mini, we now have the K70 Core. It’s a mainstream keyboard that comes in at $100, but it still packs a punch with high-end features."
