Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro

Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro / Pro Tenkeyless

The name DeathStalker stands for a keyboard series that probably only older gamers are aware of. The last main release of this series, the DeathStalker Chroma, already dates back to the year 2015. Now in July 2022, a new Razer DeathStalker V2 was introduced. So what is it all about?

Razer Low-Profile Gaming Keyboard

The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is a low-profile gaming keyboard with opto-mechanical switches. More specific, the keyboard features newly developed low-profile optical switches from Razer. Buyers can choose between a simple linear switch with actuation point at 1.2 mm and a clicky switch providing tactile and audible feedback at an actuation point of 1.5 mm. The overall keyboard height is only 26 mm thanks to low-profile switches mounted on a flat base plate and covered with low-profile keycaps.

Wireless and Versatile

No cables are required – the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro provides wireless capabilities in form of 2.4 GHz Wireless and Bluetooth 5.0. You can pair the keyboard with up to three different devices and switch between those devices by the press of a button. A battery with an expected battery life of about 40 hours (or 50 hours for TKL version) is built in.

Of course, it would not be a Razer keyboard without an impressive set of lightings. The DeathStalker V2 Pro features Razer Chroma RGB, Razer Synapse, full n-key rollover, on-board profile storage, a gaming mode, and dedicated media controls.

Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro vs DeathStalker Pro Tenkeyless

The keyboard is available in different versions. While the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is a full-size keyboard, the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro Tenkeyless features a smaller form factor without numpad. Different sizes aside, both keyboards are essentially equal. Razer also made sure to include the media controls in the smaller DeathStalker V2 Pro Tenkeyless. Moreover, if you are not willing to pay the full price, there is also a cheaper Razer DeathStalker V2 which drops the wireless capabilities of the Pro series to provide a lower entry price.

"Just when you think the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro gaming keyboard line from Razer couldn’t get better, you get the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL, combining that low-profile design with an even smaller footprint. It’s excellent for gaming, but its fast performance and short actuation also provides an amazing typing experience. Its eye-watering price isn’t doing it any favors, however."

"We’ve tested many low-profile keyboards, but the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro may have just beaten them all with its short actuation distance, ultra-low-latency connectivity, and its low-profile linear optical switch that feel fantastic to type on. Whether you’re gaming or typing, this gaming keyboard does most of the work for you."

"The DeathStalker V2 Pro is a beautiful keyboard let down by poor build quality. If this review was based solely on design then it would be a must have. Unfortunately though, I cannot look past the amount of flex in the chassis. A keyboard priced at £250 should feel much better."

"An expensive low profile gaming keyboard with some iffy switches. Razer’s attempt at a low profile board wins in places, with its amazing build and great connectivity, but hollow switches can’t help to alleviate a sour taste."

"The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is a middling low-profile gaming keyboard. It’s immensely well built with a minimalistic and refined aesthetic that looks excellent, while the battery life is great and the wireless connectivity is more than just convenient. Its low-profile optical switches don’t feel anywhere near as nice as those from competitors though, which is arguably a deal breaker, not least for such an expensive keyboard."
