SteelSeries Apex 7

SteelSeries Apex 7 / Apex 7 TKL

The SteelSeries Apex 7 is a mechanical gaming keyboard that looks like the SteelSeries Apex Pro but features different switches. The keyboard is available since June 2019.

Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with lots of Extras

The Apex 7 comes, just like the Apex Pro, fully packed with tons of features for gamers: Full N-Key rollover, an USB passthrough, three-way cable routing and a magnetic, detachable wrist rest. A media key, a clickable metal roller and a small OLED display make changing settings or controlling volume and playback very convenient. The dynamic RGB illumination and the aluminum frame make the keyboard also quite nice to look at.

SteelSeries Apex 7 vs SteelSeries Apex Pro

The SteelSeries Apex 7 is a cheaper variant of the SteelSeries Apex Pro. From the looks and the feature set, both keyboards are basically the same. The only difference can be found within the keyboards: The SteelSeries Apex 7 uses common switches while the SteelSeries Apex Pro features the new OmniPoint switches which allow for flexible adjustment of the actuation distance. The SteelSeries Apex 7 is available with red, blue or brown switches.

Apex 7 TKL: A Compact Mechanical Keyboard

The SteelSeries Apex 7 is not only available in full-size but also as a tenkeyless keyboard: The SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL is a compact mechanical keyboard that forgoes the numpad but keeps all the other features of the full-sized Apex 7.

"A solid aluminum chassis, comfortable custom key switches, and a nifty OLED mini-display set apart SteelSeries' Apex 7 TKL, our favorite tenkeyless gaming keyboard to date."

3 out of 5 stars

"The SteelSeries Apex 7 is a solid keyboard that lacks the per-key customization that made its counterpart, the Apex Pro, worth considering. It doesn’t quite justify its price because of the limited utility of its integrated OLED Smart Display and ubiquity of RGB-backlit keyboards."

"Pick up the SteelSeries Apex 7 if you want a keyboard with a mini-OLED screen and don't care about per-key actuation. Otherwise, the Corsair K70 RGB Mk.2 is a better peripheral for the same price."
